These guidelines are designed to help us achieve a high quality of musical performance which can be enjoyable for us as well as for listeners.
Membership dues for the Boise Master Chorale are $75 per person. However, we have never turned anyone away for inability to pay. See a member of the Board to discuss.
| Rehearsals | Mondays, 7:30-9:30 p.m. | |
| Location | Boise State University Choir Room, the Velma Morrison Center |
You will have the opportunity to buy some of the music for the season. If you do not buy your music, mark the music with pencil only and erase those markings before turning in your music. Ask before hole-punching. You may be asked to replace lost or damaged music.
It is recommended that you purchase a black folder. If you use a black three-ring binder, magazine holders can be used to hold the music. Ask the librarian for more information about folders.
Promptly return the music in the envelope it came in, or call the librarian to make other arrangements: Sue Phillips, 323-0503
A maximum of 2 excused absences per “concert cycle” are allowed. Fewer when the period is less than 5 rehearsals.
To be excused from a rehearsal, please call your section leader.
Requests for additional or extended absences must be in writing (email is OK) and given to your Section Leader or to one of the Membership Co-Chairs. The request will be discussed with Dr. Jirak.
You must attend the dress or final rehearsal in order to sing the performance. If you are unable to be there, contact your Section Leader or Membership Co-Chairs and it will be shared with Dr. Jirak for a possible exception.
Attire for women: Black concert dress ($85.00), black hose, and black shoes with black soles. No jewelry, except wedding rings and small pearl earrings.
Attire for men: Black suit or tuxedo, white shirt, black shoes and dress socks, black bow tie and cummerbund.
For all: Absolutely no perfume or cologne. Some choir members may have allergies to fragrances. Use unscented products.
Stage protocol: Our performance begins when the first person walks on stage. Talking, whispering, and gesturing are inappropriate. Carry your folders in the hand away from the audience. Give the conductor your full attention.
