The Boise Master Chorale will be the guests of the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra and this September the women of the Chorale will perform the fascinating symphonic tone poem by Gustav Holst; The Planets.
On November 6 and 8, 2009 the Chorale will celebrate the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn who was born in Hamburg in 1809. Dr. James Jirak will lead the Chorale in a performance of Mendelssohn's Magnificat, a composition written when the composer was 13 years old! Also on the program will be Mendelssohn's beautiful setting of Psalm 42. Both works employ an expanded orchestra with strings, full brass, doubled woodwinds, organ, and timpani.
On December 18 and 20, 2009 the weekend before Christmas, the Chorale will perform Handel's Messiah, also with full orchestra and soloists. This music is as timeless as the holiday itself, as the audience experiences a joyful celebration of universal proportions: Hallelujah!
On March 6, the Boise Master Chorale will offer a significant change of pace when it presents Westward Ho: Cowboys and the American West in Song. Come hear the Chorale as we sing about the "Corral" and other icons of America's westward expansion. Our very special guest will be cowboy poets Willis Carr and Scott Rhead.
